The Solomon and Gillespie Fund is a non-profit, private foundation that provides financial support to individuals, small groups, and other non-profits within the following three areas:

The Fund’s founders shared a sustained passion and interest in the field of Freudian/Lacanian psychoanalysis. Accordingly, around three quarters of the Fund’s financial support goes towards projects advancing this field.

The Fund’s interest in leukemia research is the result of Lyn Solomon being diagnosed with a rare and aggressive from of leukemia in November 2018, the illness she eventually died from in April 2021. Because of her ordeal, a portion of the Fund support goes towards research into the cause, treatment and potential cure for the disease.

The Fund’s interest in Inuit art is the result of Lyn being born and raised in Montreal, Canada where she came in contact with the indigenous cultures of the Canadian arctic region. This early exposure was one of the inspirations for her becoming an artist and continued to serve as a stimulus for her art making practice. Inuit art and culture has gone through many transformations and innovations over thousands of years and presently is supported by a unique cooperative arrangement between the artists and the broader community.

The Solomon and Gillespie Fund considers public engagement an essential part of the process. Therefore those seeking support should include a public component to their projects such as public readings or workshops, exhibitions, colloquium, and online or print publication.

The Solomon and Gillespie Fund is a private foundation registered in the State of New York and recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) a tax-exempt organization.
